Must Have Items to Get Started
12" Paper Trimmer
This should be one of the first items you purchase. Your Paper Trimmer will quickly become your most valuable tool as you use it over and over again. A trimmer that cuts up to 12” wide will |
 |
allow you to cut down paper and crop photos to any size with crisp, straight edges. We recommend picking up a Fiskars Paper Trimmer as they are of high quality and reasonably priced.
Scrapbook Album
An album is as important as what is inside of it. Be sure that you chose an album that is of high quality, ensuring that the materials used to make the album are archival-safe. There are many styles and formats of albums that you can use for your scrapbook, each of |
 |
them with their own benefits. 12x12 has been the standard for some time and is most widely used today, however many other sizes are available to suit your needs. Go for a post bound album with clear top loading pages, as they are the easiest to work with. It is always a good idea to pick up the refills that fit your album when you purchase it to avoid confusion and frustration later.
Scrapbooking Adhesives
To get started, we recommend picking up some Photo Tabs. These are small double-sided adhesive squares, perfect for mounting photos and adhering paper to paper. You can buy them in small boxes, but we highly recommend purchasing a Tab Dispenser. |
 |
A dispenser will not only save you time and money, it will make your life a lot easier. There really is an adhesive for everything, but start out with the basics first.
Crafting Scissors
A good pair of scissors is essential to your scrapbooking tool kit. For your first pair, think fine tip. It is rare that you will use your scissors to make long cuts. There are a lot of different scissors, each advertising its unique features. Chose a pair that is |
 |
comfortable in your hand and easy to manipulate. A Teflon coating on some scissors provide a non-stick surface, which can come in handy when cutting stickers or photo tabs.
Journalling Pens
You should try to get into the habit of journalling right from the start. Write notes when you are taking pictures or carry a journal to help you remember details. When you develop your pictures it is a good idea to make notes on the back of each picture. (Do not
|
 |
use ball-point pens on your photos)! Be sure to include the names of the people, the date, the location and any other information that you think you might forget in 10 years. Chose a pen that uses archival safe ink, otherwise known as pigment ink. Pigment ink will not fade or discolour over time ensuring that what you write will stay where you wrote it.
Paper, Stickers, Cardstock, Embellsihments & More!
This is where the fun all starts! Take that step and let your imagination run wild as you scan through thousands upon thousands of patterns, colours and textures. The options are endless |
 |
and the combinations are unbelievable! Check out all of the wonderful items available at Clipper Street Scrapbook Company and get started today!
